ABSTRACT . Despite the importance of pre-school as a foundation for the country's formal education, the Ministry of Education spends less .than one percent of its budget on this sub-sector. The General objective of the study was to determine the impact of free primary education on early childhood education. The research study was conducted between December 2008- April 2009. The study was carTied in Ongoche primary school, Migori district. The study benefits the early childhood pupils since their well being is advocated for in the study. The stucly al~o fonns a basis for future researchers who may research on a related topic and equip the researcher with knowledge about free primary eciucation in Kenya. Parents will benefit from the study in a way that they will understand the importance of early childhood education and understand that it is the basis for future education. The study recommended that the government should also make early ~hildhood education because parents have decided to pull out their children from early childhood education and yet it is important for the country and primary education. The government should have a policy in place that focus on the impact of free primary education on early childhood education and also put them in practice.
